Try covering the end of the gun when firing, if it makes a shot sound and the white square then flashes with each shot over the ducks when you fire on the tv, this proves the guns trigger is working. Try covering the end of the gun with your fingers leaving just a small gap. If then the gun works, it must just be over sensitive. I had this exact problem.. I cut up a couple nerf bullets and put the foam around the inside edge of the gun to make the hole smaller in the centre of the barrel and now the gun works perfectly. Be creative and use whatever, just make the end narrower. Hopefully this helps whoever reads it.
