Black film on back of screen/digitizer is ripped/punctured in places.

Hey guys, I've got a quick question.
I'm getting ready to replace a broken iPhone XR screen, but the replacement part itself apparently sustained some minor damage when it was shipped to me. The black film/covering on the back of the screen is ripped/punctured in places, likely from what looks to be a rogue screw that was in the packaging. (See images.)

My question is, is the part still usable, or will the tears/rips affect the screen's lighting or display in any way? I googled all over to see if I could find a diagram to explain exactly what the purpose of the black film could be, but nothing's come up. Would love it if anyone can confirm whether I can still use this part.
Thanks in advance,
Lynda
