Ok bad news, based off the fact that you put in in upside down could mean that you bent the pins inside the connector, if you could, take a microscope or anything like it and look at the pins of the connector, if anything is bent you can try to bend it back with a very fine pair of tweezers but be careful to bend it back correctly or break it off.
