Last week I discovered the fridge section of my GFE28GSKHSS was in the high 50s/low 60s. The lower freezer compartment was still freezing.
Googled and found a few videos on it being the fridge section evap fan, which I checked and sure enough there was no air flow coming out of the top vents in the back. Replaced with an aftermarket fan from Amazon that had good reviews and things looked good. Could feel air blowing out of the top vent.
WIthin a few hours the fridge had cooled down to 38 and I figured it was good to go so I reassembled everything, put the shelves, etc back in. Temps went up to the high 40s, but started to drop. I did a grocery run and when I came back I put everything away. Still appeared to be cooling, but later than night the temps went back up into the high 40s/low 50s.
I thought it might have been the food so I took all the food out and put it into my garage fridge (all my beer is warm boohoo) and let it run over night with my wifi thermometer running. Overnight temps went as low as the low 40s, but after an hour would go back up to high 40s, sometimes low 50s. Humidity also seems high ranging from 60-90% at times.
I checked the evap drain line as a few other videos mentioned it. It was mostly clear, a little dirt and a small piece of plastic bag ran out the line into my catch cup. Dumped another cup of hot water and it also ran through fine.
The fridge evap isn't icing over, just slight frost forms on tines (assuming that's from the humidity) and after running the fridge completely closed for 2-3 days there was a dime sized spot of ice in the drip pan under the evap.
Ran the fan in diagnostic mode and it's running at 68-78 speed on the display. I can't find a manual to confirm if that is 75% of the normal speed of the fan or not.
I found this post [post|217657]
but I'm unable to find any manuals, videos, or other instructions on testing any of the boards, thermistor, etc
Any other ideas or things I can test before I give in and call an appliance repair person?
Thanks in advance!
