Are Pioneer 9-pin tuners of the 1980's all compatible?

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

I recently picked up a Pioneer SA-1290 stereo amplifier from 1988, and it has a 9-pin connector for the AM/FM tuner. This is paired with the Pioneer TX-1090Z tuner in most posts I've seen, but there are other Pioneer 9-pin tuners available also of this era. I'm looking at a Pioneer TX-1210Z tuner with the 9-pin connector but cannot find if it is compatible with my amplifier. Are all the Pioneer 9-pin tuners of this era compatible across the line?[br]

EDIT (29 Aug 2024): I found an affordable TX-1090Z on eBay, and bought it. Should be here in the next couple days. There's labels on the back of the tuners saying which amp(s) the tuner is compatible with. The TX-1090Z says "Connect this equipment with SA-1490, SA-1290"

+EDIT (30 Nov 2024): After I received the TX-1090Z I re-capped it considering its age, and it sounds great on the SA-1290. Love the sound of vintage analog transistor driven amps. Had a similar Pioneer system after I joined the Air Force in the early 80s.
