Problem staying on after screen replacement

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

I replaced the screen of my partner's note 10 pro after she destroyed the OLED screen by immersing it in water.

When I put the whole thing together it seemed to be working fine, but shortly my partner complained it would not turn on, and I spent some time fiddling with it, seeing occasional yellow flashes when the power button was pressed or a charging cable was attached.

I dissassembled it again, and found that it works fine when the screen is plugged in alongside the phone.

When I connect the screen in the correct location, with the ribbon through the board, touching the screen on the right near the bottom 5th of the screen causes the screen to go suddenly black. It comes back by pressing the power button twice, and it appears that touches in the meantime are registered as it doesn't always come back in the same state, and has instead opened an app or changed to a different "desktop"

I'm wondering whether it is shorting out or something. Perhaps the tape on the back of the screen is not in quite the right location.

Does anyone have any ideas, or has experienced this kind of thing before?
