All right I know this is an old post I'm going to revive it and add my experiences I don't have the iPhone but I think replacement screens are similar for many different phone model process. I have three phones of the same model they were older phones I got them at a cheap rate. Last December literally within about a week of each other I dropped two of the phones and broke the screens. So I went online and found replacement screens and I found a video showing how to do it. For my model phone it was very straightforward I didn't have to take apart the motherboard I didn't even have to unscrew anything so I attempted to try it myself. I bought five replacement screens from two different vendors and only three of them worked. The other two turned on but when I went to touch the screen it was unresponsive so I sent them back. Those two came from two different vendors but what I noticed on the back of the screen is that they had the exact same sticker on them regarding I guess wherever the factory made it and the production year it was exactly the same so I knew when I saw the second one before I even connected it I had a feeling it was going to have the same error and it did. I'm not exactly sure what the problem was with that but they made a lot of similar model phone for my Galaxy J series with similar names so maybe it wasn't for the exact same phone although the ribbon cable did properly sit into the connection so that's beyond my expertise. I have read some of the comments regarding removing the screen on the back that film on the back of the screen. All of my replacement screens had the same film in this case it was a green color over the gold colored metal foil stuff. I actually decided to leave it on because the touch was still functioning okay and one of the ones when I tried to peel it off the gold medal underneath and at that point the touch-stopped working. Also I noticed one of the screens that I had broken when I took it apart it still had the it had the exact same green foil on top of the back of the metal whereas the other screen did not and to be honest I didn't notice any difference between the two phones for example any typing problem when they were working with the original screens which I think were not even original screens it seems like they were replacement screens and they were working just fine until I dropped the phones and broke them within a week of each other. So I replaced the two screens and now I have an extra screen in case I drop one again but I actually bought a newer model phone it's not brand new but when I bought it it was brand new but a few years old but it has a stronger drop and shock protection so I'm hoping to not have to replace the screen hopefully again for a long long time. I actually called the manufacturer initially but they said my phone was too old and they cannot service it and I called the repair shop the guy quoted me two prices for an original screen and an aftermarket screen and he told me the difference was that the original screen has a slightly better image however there was no guarantee for either one. I was going to have him fix both of my phones but when I saw the video and the guy did it on within a matter of less than 5 minutes without even unscrewing anything it seemed so straightforward I decided to try it myself. I wish I had known about that before because I had originally broken the screen on my original brand new phone and I had it replaced by the manufacturer anyway we can't worry about the past right just look forward to the future but I can't speak for everyone in my experiences with this model phone I've left the green replacement on and so far the film in the back it has not impacted the performance or the typing now I don't usually take my phones outside these are just mostly for surfing the internet at the house and as a backup in case I break my main phone so I can't say for sure if you took it out in the sun or to the beach maybe the heat damage could somehow damage the screen with the extra plastic in the back but for my experience and my use I left it on and it seemed to work just fine I've had it like that going since December now on two different phones and as I said the one phone that I broke already in December it seemed like it already had the replacement screen and I noticed that when I opened it it had the green film on the back and I had had that phone for almost a year and it worked fine until I broke the screen sorry for the rambling on hope somebody finds this useful someday
