I bought this PS3 with the YLOD. After diagnosing, I tracked down fuse F6001 and Capacitors C6019 and C6020 as the culprits. Replaced them and bam, solid green light and about a weeks worth of use. I left it on standby in the morning yesterday and saw the solid red light (as has been the last few days).
However, when I came back that evening, the red light had gone. I was gutted. There had been no power cuts and it's plugged into a surge protector so I have no idea what happened.
I did some diagnosing of the fuses as I tried another PSU, tried a different ribbon cable for the power on/eject buttons, also switched the socket with the switch on the back but there's still no lights, and a different power cable. I found that a fuse was dodgy as well as a capacitor on it's line in the schematic. I replaced those as I had the parts available.

Sadly when it came to seeing it worked, the lights still didn't appear. The 5V pins on the PSU connectors look to be ok, just slightly under 5V. Now i'm not sure where to look and am absolutely gutted it's not lasted longer. If anyone can provide any suggestions, I'd be grateful. It's the C03 model by the way.

Edit: I checked the connection between the on/off and eject board. The left most pin closest the PSU is 5V and then the second most left is 5V but counts down. If I keep the pin in the motherboard socket and move the other multimeter prong across the back of the pins on the small board, I can get the red, green, and blue light to flicker intermittently and not all at once, except the green and red on occasion.
