Changed battery No 2 for battery No 3. But would not start up. Removed/replaced screen during this process.

Following a change of battery the phone will not start.

So replaced battery No 2. Phone still won’t start up & shows plug in charger screen.

Put into Recovery mode but does not show as a device in iTunes when connected to laptop using lightningUSB cable.

Plug in using lighting/usb cable to MacBook Pro but doesn’t show in iTunes and doesn’t charge.

Can’t get phone out of recovery mode.

Have tried holding power+home buttons until see Apple logo. But returns to recovery screen.

Left plugged into laptop for few hours. Every 10 mins the Apple logo screen flashes up and then returns to Recovery screen.

I was going to recycle for parts but people want the phone factory reset and not locked. Because it failed with data on board I need to “Erase this device” in iCloud to protect my data/id. But does that impact using the phone for parts only?
