With the laptop turned on, try shining a flashlight at an angle close to the laptop screen and check if you can detect any images on the screen at all.
They will be ''very faint'' if they are there so trying this in a darkened room may help to see them.
''If you can't see any images'' then there's a problem with either the eDP cable, eDP cable connection (at either end, motherboard or LCD panel), or the LCD panel itself.

Here's the [https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad3_hmm.pdf|hardware maintenance manual] for the laptop. Go to p.51 to view the procedure to remove the LCD panel. This will allow to to inspect the cable and cable connections at least.

If it is determined that the LCD panel is the problem, here's the [https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/3-series/ideapad-3-15iil05/81we/parts/display/compatible?linkTrack=Caps%3ABody_SearchProduct&searchType=4&keyWordSearch=ideapad%203-15IIL05%20Laptop%20-%20Type%2081WE|parts list] for the laptop.

Click on ''Select Commodity → LCD Panel (17)'' to find the part numbers for all the LCD panels that can be used in the model. Usually the part number can be found onthe back of the LCD panel itself, if you wish to verify which one you have now. Search online for the ''part number only,'' appropriate to your particular laptop, to find suppliers that suit you best.

''If you can see images'' then there's a backlight problem with the display. Here's the motherboard [document|35870|schematic] that may help. The power for the backlights is fed via fuse FG3301 (fuse type [https://www.lcsc.com/product-detail/Fuses_PANASONIC-ERBRD3R00X_C424349.html|3A 32V ERBRD3R00X] (example only) to pins 1 & 2 of the eDP cable connector - see p.33 of the schematic.

If there is power on pins 1 & 2 at the LCD panel end of the eDP cable then the problem is in the LCD panel, which will have to be replaced.
