I have had a number of HPs develop loose display connectors.

However, overheating might be caused by dust blocking airflow or using a laptop on your lap of all places ==> blocking vents on the bottom or sides.

Do you see any video using a flashlight? If so, it is a backlight issue, which could be a power problem.
