So if it's not the screen, the next thing to check is the top screen ZIF connector. Look it over carefully and make sure there aren't any bent/broken pins or cracked solder joints. It also wouldn't hurt to clean both the cable and connector with a toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol.

While you've got it open, check the rest of the board for any visible damage. If you find anything, you can add a pic and we'll go from there
