@nycollas First you want to check your charger. Make sure it has the proper voltages. Check your charging cable to make sure the connectors are not bend etc. After that, check the charging port. Clean it of any debris etc, use a few puffs of air to clean it out. Make sure there is no corrosion, debris etc. that prevents it from working. If none of this works, get a ammeter and see if your phone draws any amperage from the charger. After that, you need to check and see if your circuit board even gets power. For that of course, you need to open it up. Since ifixit does not yet have a guide for that use the ones [https://www.nadiemellamagallina.com/en/manuales/smartphones-1/samsung-4/samsung-galaxy-j5-382/|from here] Check the charging connector as well as the battery. Replacing the battery will be a must do.

If that does not lead to success, follow the Samsung Flow chart and see if that gets your phone going again.
