@ndishllyn all of this sounds like your phone has a case of "Ghost Touching" that is caused by a failure between the touchscreen and the display. There really is no fix for it but requires you to replace the complete display assembly. While you work on your phone, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has the same problem as you do.
