If I'm not mistaken, the only potential issue with repairing a 6th gen Pro is that there's calibration info stored on a chip attached to the display for the Apple Pencil. If this chip isn't transferred, the Pencil doesn't work right with the device. If they don't use the pencil, you should be fine.
