brand new, never run before

I am having the exact same issue. This is a unit that was left, along with other AV equipment when I bought the house. It had never had the belt engaged over the drive pully (red ribbon still attached). I attached the pully, made sure it was right, and made the turns on the turntable. I get the mechanical click when i press the start button, but that is the only action. Repeated the rotating reset several times with only the click resulting. Again, brand new, never run before. Any ideas?

+Another YT vide showed how to manually reset but that did nothing. With no turntable or belt on, I can make the drive pully spin if I give it a little "push". However can also stop it with very little pressure. Once the belt is engaged, no amount of spinning the turntable will start things. So, I have power, and the motor is not dead, but seems to lack any power. Again, this is a never used AT-LP60. About to chunk it.
