I have the same problem with my HP..

It was working all fine untill one day the battery just drained from 30 to zero and went off.

Since then, it only works with power AC plugged. It refuses to work with the battery on. Could this be a motherboard power issue???

I have replaced the battery, but same problem.

I've used a friend's charger, but same problem.
