Hello. I am new to the PS3 game but just letting everybody know, I have this issue. I PAID 50$ for this console and was told it did not work at all. Got home and she booted right up. It was filthy… Filthy. So i spent a couple days cleaning every last piece of it very carefully. I reassembled it, put some high quality thermal grease, and the disk reader does not work to my surprise. Haha, I updated to custom firmware then quickly realized that was a very stupid decision for this PS3. I reverted to OFW 4.90 and I have tried swapping and formatting the hard drives, I have tried re-updating it again and again. I have yet to see if it will read a PS2 Game or PS1 game but the disk reader eats the disk and starts spinning no problem, don’t let me forget to mention that the console gets very very warm to the touch because the PSU gets up there in the temp. All the heat comes from the PSU. The board it chilled. It makes me sad. I have 4 ps3 fats. One is refurbished from gamestop I paid 40$ for and it works. The other needs a disk reader, and this one needs something. I am here because I need help. My other ps3 fatboy has ylod… been cleaned and new thermal grease. Still ylod.
