I have an Asus fx505gt gaming laptop where the onboard LAN does not connect or show any link lights. I can plug the Ethernet cable into any other computer, even into a USB Ethernet adapter on the same laptop and it works fine. The NIC shows in Device manager and has current drivers. The next steps I need to take are to check for any bent pins and to update the BIOS.
According to pictures I've seen it looks like the LAN is soldered directly onto the main board and isn't a replaceable module. Does anyone have any advice to repair the onboard LAN, or if it is even possible? The USB 3 Ethernet adapter I am using works most of the time, but often struggles in high bandwidth situations.
