hdmi to thunderbolt not showing in system report

hello I  have a HP monitor connected to a 2014 Mac mini via a thunderbolt 2 to hdmi cable,The monitor is working perfectly and shows up in displays in system preferences but when I go to system report thunderbolt says nothing is connected. Is this normal
