When it comes to water damage it might just be the case that's faulty. The case must have power (either connected to charger or running from its own battery) in order for the buds to power on. The case is also slightly easier to repair than the buds and so should be your first component to investigate. The easy way to determine if the case is affected is to see if you get a status light when opening the lid - either green or amber (good) or red (bad). When my buds went through the wash it was only the case that was faulty, and that was resolved by replacing the battery.
