Failed or mismatched disc drive controllers will cause the system to throw E100 703 and Hresult 8091xxxx errors, which I think it means core firmware update failed at board/drive firmware level, unable to communicate and authenticate with the disc drive.

Check if it survives a system update/restore, if so, the chip control logic is fine.
