So first thing is narrowing down exactly which mic(s) are affected.
-There are actually 4 mics in the XR. Mics 1 and 4 are on the charge port. This can safely be replace without affecting Face ID. These mics are typically used for normal voice calls (not on speaker).

Mic 2 is on the the flash/button cable. This would be the rear mic.
-Mic 3 is part of the receiver speaker/sensor flex cable. This is the one I think is your issue. But it may require some resting to figure out.
