Why do my airpods display incorrect charging info?

In advance sorry for the bad grammar as im in a rush rn.
Hi so I open my airpods and it pops up on my iphone as 100% for all of them, even if i haven't charged them. Then when i take them out, the charging status changes, and then won't pair with my iphone, even if it displays as 100% and I have bluetooth on. What should I do?
I also have apple care until next january, so should i visit the apple store and talk to them and show them the video proof that i have?
