Well, if that returned after the SMC issue, in order of cost and probability the culprits may be: 1. A Pinched Inverter Cable 2. An aging/Failing Inverter 3. An aging/failing backlight lamp 4. (Really, really rare, so rare that I wouldn't take in account): Aging capacitors on the Logic Board Usually, in a pinch, changing 1-2 fixes the whole mess.
