In addition to @andrewsawesome answer, you can probably get your Chromebook onto the latest OS by [guide|149148|creating a Chrome OS Recovery USB|new_window=true]. This should bring your device to the latest version of Chrome OS. Although I will add that if you restore your device it will erase anything that is locally stored, so be sure to move anything stored locally to your drive.
