Will MBP still work if Touch Bar is disconnected?

My MBP's Touch Bar started doing the blinking/flashing thing about 17 months ago. It got to the point where sometimes it would even stay off. I remapped the most essential functions to the physical keyboard, so not having a working Touch Bar didn't bother me too much. However, putting the MBP to sleep when the Touch Bar was off would cause the MBP to crash upon wake, at which point the Touch Bar would be on again. Strangely enough, restarting or shutting down did not do this - the Touch Bar stayed off. So I managed to keep the Touch Bar off for over a year by never putting my MBP to sleep - it was either on, or shut down.

Eventually, after a little over a year, the MBP randomly restarted itself in the middle of a sesson, and the Touch Bar turned on again. It worked fine for about 5 weeks, but now it's blinking/flashing again, and rapidly getting worse. Anyway, to avoid a costly repair, would it be possible just to leave the Touch Bar disconnected from the logic board? Or would it render the MBP unusable? Or maybe I can just let it blink itself to death, as long and annoying as the process will be?
