Is it possible to replace only the camera lens?

this is the second time my camera lens broke where the cameras are, and i want to know is it safe to replace only the lens and not the whole back glass, will my lens be weaker  if i replace only  the lens and not the whole back glass or is it doesn't matter at all?.
