You can bypass everything, yes if it's stolen then don't do it, but it's not our place to judge if something is stolen or not. Repair and or refurbishment of a device that belongs to you is a right.

That being said. It's been a while since I did any of this,  I have since moved on to a different career so haven't touch chromebooks in a while.

@reedjones I do apologize that I don't have a good answer for you. I barely even get on this forum since I don't do repairs anymore. I hope you found a solution and if you do please post it, so that it may help others with the same issue.
