I have the exact same problem. Just changed my screen on my 6a tester day. Dim display. Full brightness is all yellow and low brightnes I purple'ish

Hope it's hardware and a bad display sample. Cracked the old screen, but no issues with color or brightness on that one.
Will try reversing and check old screen. Otherwise new phone. Pretty poor quality control 🤬🙄😠
