Starts up, may get to desktop, then turns off.

Computer asked to install update. I allowed and then it was unplugged for 3 weeks. Don't recall if i did anything to complete update. Now when I try to turn on it gets as far as  HP logo, maybe once or twice to desktop, and crashes.
