My whirlpool was the same.

Pulled it out

Took of top(2 screws at back)

Plugged back in and on fill up I noticed dripping from soap add area. Build up of calcium had pushed apart the seal.

Unplugged

Took out unit 4x screws and undid clips

Scrubbed all calcified areas and rebuilt in reverse order.

No more leak  👍👍🤪
