It appears there are issues with mixing older model wii board with newer ones. Check [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wii_drivechips|wikipedia] under "drivechip issues". I unfortunately can't find mention of dates that the various changes and update happened. I would say that if the Wiis you have were made within a couple years of each other, it should be a safe transplant.
