No backlight, even after replacing fuse and backlight IC chip

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

Hi guys. I have an A1466 which I was so stupid as to spill liquid in. This caused the classic no backlight problem. I have researched more about this fricking problem than anything else I can think of 😄. I invested in all the equipment so I could fix this problem myself. So I went to war.

First time I replaced just the fuse. Turned the mac on, and the fuse blew. I assumed then that the problem would be with the IC chip. So I also replaced this one - and the fuse again. This time when turning on the Mac, the fuse didn't blow, but there is still no backlight. I shine a light on the back and I can see that everything else is functioning.

Could it be that I have not replaced the IC correctly? There are a lot of "balls" that need to line up, and perhaps being the amateur that I am, they are not all "connected". So my question is:

How can I probe around and locate the issue? Any way to test the IC or should I just reflow it?

Best,
