Battery randomly loses a lot of charge when in heavy use

My macbook will function perfectly during casual use and can last up to 6/7 hours when watching youtube or netflix however when using multiple apps or opening something like visual studio my battery can go from 100% down to power off in under 10 minutes. I have noticed that when it powers off it is hotter than normal and after plugging in the charger it will show the battery is actually still got a lot of charge left. It will not allow me to turn on until I have connected the charger though. I have bought a replacement battery that will arrive soon but I am looking for any other solutions before going through with pulling out a potentially working battery. As a final note I have coconut battery installed and the Maximum battery capacity is at about 3400 mAh however during heavy usage this value fluctuates up and down and I have even seen it at 300 mAh.
