I have the qc35 ( i not ii) but I think it's similar enough. The cushions are held in by a ridge inside the headphones. Each cushion has a hard plastic ring ( oval shaped) that snaps into that ridge, all the way around the headphone. You have to push it in so it stays. If the cushions won't stay, I bought replacements on eBay and they worked perfectly well. Bose probably sells them too.
