@jsabbagh not all bad bearings seize. Some get really loose and rattly and slow the shaft out of center. This will cause excessive wear on the bearing surfaces as well as the shaft. If you think it needs to be replaced, go ahead and do so.

If yours is the brushed version, it is easily possible that the noise is coming from the carbon brushes. Time to check it all out.
