Unless you replaced the video board and cables in addition to the display, you shouldn't be able to connect the "wrong" display.

You can confirm which display you have installed by looking at the properties of the monitor in Device Manager. If the "Hardware ID" starts with "SDC3853", it is a Samsung display. (See attached image.)
