Just had a fat PS3 come in to X MARX THE BOX for this. No flashing lights but instant 3 beeps and light stays red. Pulled it apart for the customer and what they thought was a overheating issue was much worse. Liquid damage(soda) and it bridged 6 of the SATA pins, possibly from heat, on the board. Heat and liquid are the main killers and this is the second fat PS3 I've had in this year with liquid damage. The first had corrosion eating the connections so I cleaned it all up and got it running but it failed again but much worse within a few months. That one had at least 20 circuits damaged but this one may be able to be microsoldered to fix the issue. Always put your PCs and consoles in elevated and well ventilated areas and NEVER set drinks or liquids within a arms reach of them. Lost my Atari 2600 in 1985 because I used to set my milk on it but the Atari wasn't thirsty. Good luck.
