You won't lose true tone as that's programmed to the screen itself. If you've just replaced the top ribbon then you won't of done anything with the home button apart from disconnected the ribbon from the motherboard. Open up the phone again and disconnect all three cables and reseat them making sure they are seated properly, especially the home button connection. Also check for dirt in the connectors whilst you're in there.
