Any real difference in these two batteries besides the price?

The specs for the A1494 battery for the MacBook Pro 15" Retina A1398 Late 2013 to Mid 2014 are the same as the A1618 specified ***''only''*** for the MBP 15" Retina Mid-2015, but the only apparent difference is the plastic tab in the bottom center, and I've read plenty of reviews where people say they just cut it off and it fit fine after applying the adhesive - anyone tried it in the Mid-2015? Is it just a gratuitous markup?
