Interesting idea! So you have a 2013 27" system which is dead so you want to use the shell to hold a newer 2014/15 27" 5K display.
While you could physically fit the display the 2013 logic board and power supply would need to be swapped out with a 3rd party power supply and controller board.
Others have done this so I can't see any reason it wouldn't work.
