Control4 T3 10" replace digitiser/glass screen (so close!) Glue help!

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

Hello,

About 18 months ago I decided to buy 16 (8 x 7" T3 wall mounted screens and 7 x 10" Tabletop) Control4 Touchscreens Mostly white) for about$500. These were all broken (either screen not turning on or cracked) so I thought I would have a go at repairing...)....hardest part...finding the right parts from China.

I also picked up a mixture of 9 Triad 4 and 8 zone whole house amplifers for $300 which turns out to be a easy fix.

I was ill for six months but that's still 12 months plus 6 months since I bought them and until a parcel arrived two weeks ago I was going to give up and eBay there lot or chuck them.

Well I started to open one up ages ago and it broke so I gave up for a while till the right parts arrived. With the back cover off:

I starrted googling products codes all over the place into I found the following:

Last week 5 white and 3 black surround glass/digitizer arrived so I can finish repairing them.

I have got to the point of havign the LCD screen working perfectly (out of its case etc) but without the digitiser attached. I only have one problem, seperating the broken screen/digitiser from the outside C4 rim (which I cannot find only anywhere).

I have to remove the whole glass front part including the while/black surround sections right up to the last mm which is made up of the frame:

Talking of digitisers, I had to purchase around 18 in total but at arounf $20 each its not too bad. seeing a working one retails on eBay for around £400-£500 and I bought 16 for $400 which works out about £50 each!

As you can see from the photos the bit of plastic frame which connects to the Control4 backcover is very thin so when heating up the screen/digitiser I have accidently wrapped one (only one so far thankfully as replacments will be nearly impossible.

Going well:

I have slowly worked out on what now became my first (and only hopefully) test frame to work out the best temperatre for heating up the glue (Loca I think?!). So far it tends to be around the 75-90 degree celcius but by then the think plastic around the outside is already very flexable (its not also possible to heat up comletly to re-shape, it 110% sure doesnt work, trust me!)

Does anyone else have any ideas? Im a little worried about taking the heatgun to the plastic again. The only possiblity I can think of is to maybe reforce the thin frma by putting the back on (no internals) so it keep the thin bit in place?

I have tried different solvents and even some weird tiny wire but that did nothing.

Just wish I could only heat up the glass/plastic and keep the frame cold...

I did try the 'iOpener' and was not impressed at all, after 20 seconds in the microwave it burst, thankfully I wasnt about to open it or it could of been nastly. I would avoid!

Below is the frame with the screen/digitiser ready to go on before reassembling. Any ideas would be great cheers how how to seperate the glass/digitiser to this point without warping (bottom left of photo) or if anyone could find this frame for sale for under £50 I will give them £50!:
