Most components are built to be used with a certain voltage and amperage. Applying too much voltage, 220v to components built for 110v will damage the electrical components. The wiring gets to hot and melts, causing fuses to blow and even tripping the breaker.

If the electrical parts are rated for 110v and 220v is applied they probably will be damaged.
