There is a fuel pump relay (K96 - relay panel behind glove compartment) that is operated by the ECM and the pump should operate as long as the ignition key is in the start position and then the pump will continue to run once the engine starts.
Also check if the fuel pump fuse (N52 engine - rear fuse holder fuse F50) is OK or not.
