I know this is an old question but I had the exact same issue with the same fridge. The problem isn't with the ice maker but with calcium build up in the fill tube. I removed the ice maker to get access to the fill tube extending from the freezer door. I used a wire brush straw cleaner and vinegar. Dip the straw cleaner in vinegar and shove it in and out of the fill tube to remove the buildup and repeat multiple times. Use a blow dryer to remove any ice buildup around the fill tube and ice chute. Let the ice maker completely defrost before re-installing it. I suspect that the buildup in the fill tube is causing the water to come out at a higher pressure which is causing it to splash out of the ice maker.
