My 500Gb WD My Book does not spin up anymore. The drive just clicks. [br]
I opened the case, removed the standard 3,5" SATA HDD and pugged it into a desktop. The drive works flawlessly.
Then I plugged a small 2,5" SATA HDD into the empty WD case and it works. I assume the board inside the WD cannot power the 3,5" drive with enough power to spin-up, although my multimeter sees 12V on the SATA connector...
So i got my data back, the HDD can be re-used in a desktop or another external enclosure and I confirm the WD board is a piece of XXX.
