Research is ongoing we do know there are effects, both negative and positive. As far as we know right now, for example the magnetic bracelets sold do nothing. A placebo effect can account for the reported efficacy by some users. Magnetic therapy devices on the other hand are in use and have been proven effective in certain situations. For example some (not all) such devices can decrease inflammation and are useful in treating in particular arthritis. There are guidelines for what is considered 'safe' exposure levels but it should be realized that we don't actually know what levels are safe at this time. Very knowledgeable people can be found to argue for and against current standards. Truth is, we aren't sure yet, but convenience and profits do affect the standard setting... Much more research is available, look for actual research, you will find plenty.
