-I have a broken Gladiator brand 18v charger for my battery powered angle grinder. I have 2 working Ridgid brand 18v Chargers.. So I thought why not just move the Gladiator battery interface to one of the Ridgid chargers and use it for the Gladiator batteries. But when I open the Gladiator charger it has two leads to its battery interface.. The Ridgid charger has 4 leads to its battery interface. With it plugged in and no battery installled, no two leads give me a voltage of 18v.. The highest reading I get is 5v DC on each of two pairs. Anybody know why the difference and if my idea of swapping battery interfaces is feasible or stupid.

+Anybody have an idea what might have failed on the Gladiator charger? I dont see any broken or loose wires. It has a huge inverter and a huge capacitor in addition to a smaller capacitor and many resistors.. As you can tell I am not an electronics guy.
