I actually have solved the problem, decided to share the experience, as this may help others. The reasons for all above was that battery connector was not fully pushed into the socket. Some of the pins of the socket are "shorted" and they likely have not been connected. So while "power" part of the battery was there, the "control signals" likely were not all making through.[br]

When viewed from the side there should be no gap between the socket and the battery connector.
